Research and development activities at DEPIK provide the right environment for the research trainees to gain practical skills and to excell in their field. DEPIK works similar to good academic institutes, by mixing training and research. But DEPIK's reserach is towards innovative product development, rather than publishing research papers.

Again like top academic institutes, DEPIK wants to work with the industry, by offering research services to the industry. Industry can offload or sponcer non-critical reasearch activities to DEPIK. This activity may be developing some expertise on some hardware/software or developing prototype of a product or even test tool development or test cases development.

DEPIK is also planning to work with the good Engineering colleges that offer M.Tech with good lab facilities. DEPIK will extend its research activities by including these engineering colleges. This way DEPIK can play a significant role in bringing engineering colleges and industry together.

DEPIK also offers its research engineers who are involved in the research activiy to the same client either for employment or for consulting.
